The Taieri Gorge train is a sightseeing train trip travelling through spectacular scenery and departing from the historic Dunedin Railway Station.
Departing daily the train journeys through the rugged and spectacular Taieri River Gorge, across wrought iron viaducts and through tunnels carved by hand more than 100 years ago. It offers full commentary, photographic stops, comfortable heating in winter and on board refreshments.
You can make the return journey to Pukerangi, or Middlemarch, or use the train as the one leg of your journey to or from Queenstown and Central Otago on our connecting `Track & Trail' coach.
The railway gets very good reviews and is recommended in most guide books. At the time of posting, the railway gets 4.5 out of 5 on tripadvisor.com. It has been rated by visitors to Dunedin as the 9th top attraction out of 36 attractions.
