The memorial is a bronze plaque mounted on granite stone. The memorial is located in a small church yard cemetery adjacent to the former St. Thomas Episcopal Church now known as the University of Delaware's Bayard Sharp Hall. The cemetery is a quiet place with about 200 graves markers and opened in 1850.
