In Cambridge, within the Mayor Thomas W. Danehy Park, is a track and field dedicated to two medal-winning Olympians, Dr. Charles Jenkins and John Thomas.
The Cambridge Champions Track and Field:
The track and field at the center of the park is a typical multi-lane oval loop, colored red. At the center of the oval is a soccer field. Near the track is a sign that has the following:
"Cambridge Champions Track & Field
Dedicated to past and future Cambridge track and field athletes including the many Rindge Technical High School, Cambridge Latin High School and Cambridge and Latin High School Championship Track and Field teams and individuals."
Near this is a stone marker about three feet high that has the following on it:
"Cambridge Olypmians
Dr. Charles L. Jenkins - 1956
400 Meter Run - Gold Medal
1600 Meter Relay Run - Gold Medal
John Thomas - 1960 and 1964
High Jump - Bronze Medal (1960)
