Akin to a flat topped obelisk, this three and a half foot tall memorial appears to be a monolith of the same granite used in the post office building, standing on a concrete base, and holding a brass plaque on its south face. It was dedicated on June 21, 1933 by the Daughters of Union Veterans and the Grand Army of the Republic. It is easily found at the south east corner of the building.
The plaque reads thus:

Dedicated to the memory of our fathers.
