The building would appear to have been constructed as a pub named the Crown & Sceptre with evidence pointing to a sign in the brickwork. A terracotta "shield" has a colourful crown attached to it with a sceptre in front of it.
By comparison, the sign hanging from the pub's wall is a bit dull and could well have been drawn by a first year primary school student - or perhaps younger! The sign is held within a wrought iron frame and is a board with a light coloured background. Along the top is the word "Crown" and along the bottom the word "Sceptre". In the centre is the childish drawing of a crown with no sceptre.
