In 1904 the Borough of Mars gave permission to the Pittsburgh and Butler Street Railway Co. to build a track through the town on Clay Avenue. Operating until 1931 this electric street car line made commuter travel, freight and farm produce movement to Pittsburgh and Butler much easier and more affordable. After the bankruptcy of the street railway company, the original, Adams Township rural trolley stop octagon building was moved to this location on Brickyard Rd., and was carefully restored by the Mars Area History & Landmarks Society.
Now the small (approx. 80 square foot) building is part of a display of buildings and artifacts of the Mars Area History & Landmarks Society. The trolley stop is filled with photos and information about the trolley and train history pertaining to Mars and surrounding area.
