This cemetery is a challenge to get to. The directions to this cemetery in the rootsweb page are good, except that it doesn't mention on which side of the cattle crossing and fence that the cemetery is located. It is on the west side of the fence. If you choose to walk through the field on the east side (as I did) be forewarned of two things: the field has Private Property signs which the wooded side does not, and the field is rife with wild rose vines that slice and dice your ankles. I chose to come back through the tree side, which has the challenge of pushing aside a lot of lower/dead pine branches and climbing over a lot of downed trees. I would recommend the latter. The sign with the word Cemetery misspelled (as Cemetary) is not right at the cemetery, but is along the fence line, directly "below" (east-northeast) of the cemetery. (This is one of two cemeteries I visited this day with the word misspelled.)

According to FindAGrave, there were 8 interments at the Whittington Cemetery. Although there are two grave markers with no dates, the oldest recorded burial is from 1889 (no month or day given) and the last was from 16 June 1923.

Latest Burial: 06/16/1923

Earliest Burial: Not listed
