At the top of railway street is the old post office, now a public house. However, at the end of this building is a sundial erected in the memory of Horatio Nelson's death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.

The sundial is supported by two steel supports, with the dial inbetween them. A large circular disc painted blue with a gold rope affect around the circumfrance. Near to the top are two ships.

Underneath this you will see the sundial itself with roman numerals at the top and traditional number along the base line, again in gold colouring.

On the wall under the sundial is a brass plaque. These words are written on this plaque:

"The right worshipful, the Lord Mayor
of the city of Rochester upon Medway
Councillor Mrs Ann Marsh
Unveiled this sundial at 4:57pm on 21 October 1994
to commemorate the death of Admiral Lord Nelson
on HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar 1805"
Sundial Type: Equatorial - plate in plane of equator
