The final resting place of Lois Lowry is at the west side of Chapel Hill Cemetery, just a few feet west of the pavilion.

1912: Arizona becomes the 48th U.S. state and the last of the contiguous United States which ends the American Frontier.
1922: Joseph Stalin is appointed General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party.
1932: Hattie W. Caraway becomes the first woman elected to the United States Senate.
1942: The 14th Academy Awards ceremony is held in Los Angeles; How Green Was My Valley wins Best Picture.
1952: The University of Tennessee admits its first black student.
