Western Speedway opened in 1954, making it the oldest speedway in Western Canada. It's a paved 4/10-mile long, egg-shaped oval (turns 3&4 are slightly wider than 1&2). There's also a 500-foot long drag strip that incorporates the front stretch of the oval. Under the grandstands, which can hold 3000 fans, there are several concessions and the Victoria Auto Racing Hall of Fame. Due to the mild climate in the region, the racing season runs from April to late-September and features stock cars, mini-stocks, old-timers, sprint cars, demo cars/trucks, dwarf cars and mini figure-8 cars.
