The Vincent Thomas Bridge is one of two bridges used by route 47 as a major highway to the city of San Pedro from Long Beach.

The bridge spans over 1000 feet and is over 360 feet tall. It is the first welded suspension bridge in the U.S. Under the bridge on the west terminus is the Catalina Express Dock and the east terminus is the shipping yard. Many trucks use this bridge because of the nearby shipping yard. It was built in 1963 and is still used today.
