Fritz Pümpin (1901-1972) was a Swiss painter who is especially known for his impressionist landscape paintings. The Fritz Pümpin Foundation created a walk through his home town with twelve stations showing the differences between the time when they were created and today.

"Staffelenhügel" was painted in 1970. This is the name of the hill where the artist stood, not the one on the painting. The location of the marker is at the corner before the street crosses the railway line; the actual position of the painter was about 50 meters west, in front of his house.

The viewing direction is southeast over the village and the church hill. Most of the scenery has not changed much in the last 40 years; some buildings were replaced by others or have disappeared, but the overall impression is very similar.
