While you can travel thousands of miles of highway and never see one of these signs, around western Arizona they crop up quite frequently. Wild burros, descendants of animals that once hauled loads for prospectors in the Arizona mining districts, have increased in numbers and in old mine camps like Oatman have learned to cadge treats from visitors.
