The colonial revival building was designed by architect Ross Edgar Sluyter and was built in 1928. Lowville Masonic Lodge #134 (Free and Accepted Masons) meets in the basement. In 2002, the building was purchased by the Lewis County Historical Society. In 2012, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
