Barclays is a British multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in London.

There is still another Barclays branch in the town so this branch was closed as a rationalisaton of services rather than the failure of a whole bank.

These days it is a pub called The Bank At Sale run by the pub chain Marstons. The choice of name reflects its past history.
