Record cold temperatures and unusually large amounts of recent snowfall may be to blame for causing the giant rand large amounts of other debris that cascaded off the bluff face immediately behind the house. Several of the boulders were as large as or larger than the house itself and one of them rolled right over the house with another coming to rest on top of the bedroom occupied by the two inhabitants when the slide occurred at 4:54AM.
