This old Water Tower is on South Kansas Avenue north of East 2nd Street in Weslaco, Texas.

The elevated tank was built 1939-41 by the Works Progress Administration to replace a ground level storage reservoir that was built in 1928.

The water tower is also a benchmark - AB1636
1947/01/01 by CGS (FIRST OBSERVED) DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1947 (RCB) STATION IS LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF WESLACO ON THE NORTH SIDE OF SECOND STREET BETWEEN TEXAS BLVD. AND KANSAS STREET. IT IS A CYLINDER SHAPED CONCRETE WATER TANK ATOP A SIX-LEGGED CONCRETE STRUCTURE AND ABOUT 100 FEET HIGH. THE ROOF IS FLAT AND THE POINT OBSERVED ON WAS THE VENT PIPE IN ITS CENTER.
