This volunteer fire department plays an important role in the community gathering volunteers together for both the needs of the department and the community.
Fundraisers for the resources required by the battalion and the community regularly shop up on their social media page.
Their website suggests that there is a piece of equipment behind all four doors waiting to respond to the needs of the community.
When the town was first incorporated Frank Anderson was the fire chief supported by a crew of 32 volunteers. He pioneered ambulance service to this small northern community. He was a member of the fire department from 1953 to 1985.
