This large stone fountain is located in the public entrance area in front of the main building of the psychiatric clinic Königsfelden in Windisch.
Th base basin has a diameter of about nine meters. In the center there are two smaller basins, the lower one is hold by a group of small statues. It looks like many Italian Renaissance fountains, but is some years newer than the originals.
This fountain was erected in 1872, when the former monastery was converted into a clinic. Another interesting detail is under ground: this fountain is supplied by a original ancient Roman pipeline from the first century AD, probably the last one in Switzerland still in operation.
