Sign on school indicates it was built in 1818. This is one of the oldest sections of Hillsborough NH. In 1735 and 1736, Colonel John Hill was granted a tract of land about six miles square and named it Hillborough. The ‘s’ was added later. He started a community with a generous tract of land, which would be known as Hillsborough Center.

The school itself is a simple one story building with a single door and a hip roof. A single chimney located on the left as you face the school heated the building.
