Visitors to Reno pass under the world-famous "Biggest Little City in the World" every day. What most don't know is that this arch was dedicated by the people of Reno to all the visitors of this popular city back in 1987. There is a bronze plaque located on the west side of the arch that reads:
THE RENO ARCH, WITH ITS FAMOUS SLOGAN "THE BIGGEST LITTLE CITY IN THE WORLD" IS ONE OF AMERICA'S BEST KNOWN CITY SYMBOLS. THE FIRST ARCH WAS DEDICATED IN 1926 AND THE SECOND ARCH IN 1963.TO CELEBRATE THE DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT AND REVITALIZATION PROJECT, THIS ARCH IS DEDICATED BY THE PEOPLE OF RENO TO THE MILLIONS OF VISITORS WHO COME TO THE BIGGEST LITTLE CITY IN THE WORLD. AUGUST 8, 1987 |
The Reno Arch has been waymarked many times over the years in various categories. I'm happy to be able to waymark it as a citizen dedication for all to enjoy.
