Mount Keen is the most easterly of the Munros, a cone-shaped summit rearing above the great sea of the Mounth plateau. It can be climbed quickly from Glen Esk, or more scenically via Glen Tanar. The distance of the walk from Glen Esk and back is about 18 kilomters and will take you about 6 hours. If you take the route from Glen Esk like me you can park your car at the parking place near N 56° 54.682 W 2° 54.602
At the top of Mount Keen, You will find this triangulation pillar.
With its 939 meters height this triangulation pillar offers a spectacular view...
Follow the well defined path to the summit of Mount Keen where you'll find a Trig point, and probably a very welcome wind shelter!! The views from the top are stunning, especially that of Lochnagar to the West and further North to the Cairngorns.
Go there, And make a picture of yourself and your GPS. But most of all enjoy the climb to the top of a Munro!
Type of Trigpoint: Triangulation Pillar
