Patrons of the Polar Bear restaurant and ordering or eating inside their establishment will see a mural on one wall depicting a playful scene of a polar bear making ice cream the old-fashioned way while a young boy and girl enjoy a bowl of ice cream of their own. On another wall is a painted burger, fries and shake, what Polar Bear has served and specialized in (along with their ice cream) as long as I can remember (over 40 years). On the third wall is a painted hot dog. The food here is enough to give anyone heart disease if they patronize this place too often. Our family prefers a simple ice cream cone for the road on our way to our destination, whatever that may be.
There is no year or artist on the walls and I forgot to ask the owner/manager if she knew any info about it. Our family passes through Merrill often on the way to some destination and we enjoy grabbing an ice cream for the road, so I'll remember to inquire about it in the future and post any info about it here.
