Thomas Dee
Home

Constructed in 1889, this two-story masonry structure with a granite block foundation embodies the distinct visible characteristics of the Queen Ann architectural style.

In addition to the building's architectural significance, it is associated in a significant way with the life of a person important in the history of Ogden - Thomas Dee. Thomas Dee is remembered because of his many and varied business and civic interests. He was known as the father of the Ogden Public School system, serving as either president or school board member for 35 years. His contributions spanned the time period between the early 1860's until his death in 1905. He is best remembered for the Thomas Dee Memorial Hospital, a major portion of which was funded in his name by his family after his death.
