"Founded in 1854, we are one of Nebraska’s oldest cities. Plattsmouth is rich in history and culture. Situated at the confluence of the Missouri and Platte rivers, Plattsmouth has a place in the discovery of the west. The Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery passed the mouth of the Platte River, just north of what is now Main Street Plattsmouth, on July 21, 1804. Our City seal reads “Honor the Past, Plan for the Future.” [end]
