Mission San Juan Capistrano, one of the series of Franciscan Missions founded along the coast of the Californias by Junipero Serra is largely preserved. A sign at the site indicates that these bells have been used since early Mission days and are used for special events...holidays, visitss by dignitaries, weddings, holidays, the election of a new Pope, etc.
