As so many other one-room schoolhouses in Portugal, this used to serve a small community scattered in the countryside. No longer needed, these schools were either abandoned or used for other purposes. This one was adapted to serve as the base for an ecomuseum, an area prepared to put the population in touch with the Nature, observing wildlife and flora. It's ran by the City.
