Harry and Frank Steward, Erwin and Orpha Larsen, Hazel Damron, Mike and Hattie Sorelle and Hazel Preece were the first pupils in the new Inkom school.

Fort Hall Indian Reservation was established by government order July 14, 1887, following treaties made with the Shoshone Indians. In July 1902 a portion of the reservation was opened for white settlement. Homesteaders moved into the beautiful Inkom Valley and by October 15, 1902 School District 46 was created. E. M. Webb, A. J. Damron and Marceise Sorelle trailed logs through deep snow to the selected site and an 18x20 foot building was erected. Gertrude Kinney was the first teacher. Harry and Frank Steward, Erwin and Orpha Larsen, Hazel Damron, Mike and Hattie Sorelle and Hazel Preece were the first pupils.
