Located on the main dam of Marguerite D'Youville wildlife refuge , shelter observation is a small jewel of refuge. Not only we can observe nature , animals and photograph them without being seen, but there is also safe. This shelter is a covered bridge that crosses a portion of the swamp. It is now called "shelter - Martin Leveille " in honor of the biologist of the same name .
Martin Leveille was an ally of importance for wildlife refuge managed by Héritage Saint- Bernard in Châteauguay .
Martin Leveille was one of the key players in the various stages of protection of the wildlife refuge Marguerite D'Youville , we think the agreement signed in 1993 between the Grey Nuns and the Fondation de la faune du Québec to protection in perpetuity of the territory by purchasing Ducks Unlimited in 2010. " Martin had a special attachment to the wildlife refuge Marguerite D'Youville and the territory of St. John Creek. He was very proud of what has become the island and the high quality of habitats found there , "says Luc L'Ecuyer , CEO of Héritage Saint- Bernard .
