The Hamann family emigrated from Germany and somehow wound up in small-town West Texas.

There are a total of 4 Hammans buried in this plot. These 4 Hamanns look to us like two generations of the same family: A father and mother, their son and daughter in law. Two of the tombstones are grey marble engraved in the German language. They are from the first generation of Hamanns.

The homemade tombstones are those of the second generation of Hamanns, made of concrete with the information written on them while the concrete was still wet. This makes for a nice deep impression, very clear and easy to read.
