The Childress family plot in the Paint Creek cemetery is notable for the number of homemade tombstones inside its confines. A modern engraved tombstone has been placed here among the homemade ones, many decades later. This plot contains the graves of John Childress and his two wife Sarah Childress, along with their son John Henry and daughter-in-law Annie Childress.
The homemade tombstones are as follows:
