The statue shows a boy seated on and inverted "U" shaped seat. It is probably a bit larger than life-size and, apart from the head and legs is a bit featureless but you can tell it is human.
I am advised that it is made from "ciment-fondu" which, as well as being a trade mark, it is the world's first commercially manufactured calcium aluminate cement, patented by J Bied of Lafarge 1908. What that means, I think, is that the piece was crafted from cement, as clay would be, and not poured into a mould.
The plinth has a plaque attached giving the name of the piece, the name of the sculptor and year.
