County of cemetery: Potter County
Location of cemetery: US-87/287 (west side), 1 mile N. of Canadian River, 17 miles N. of Amarillo
Number of graves in cemetery: 14
Date of first burial: June 15, 1887
Date of last burial: 1902
This cemetery was maintained by John Arnot, one of the original employees of the syndicate, and later a U.S. Government Cattle Brands Inspector, maintained the cemetery until 1945
Then Mrs. Mary Masterson Fain, a descendant of third owner of the old ranch land, cared for the cemetery. Since she has passed away no one cares for the property.
The State of Texas put a fence around it in 1936
When the LX Ranch syndicate was liquidated this portion of it was purchased by R.B. Masterson

If you wish to read more about The LX Ranch you can here.

Of the 14 stones I found - these are the readable ones, and what I could find of their history:
Mrs. James Wyness: 1st grave dug here. She was the LX bookkeeper's wife, and died in Tascosa on June 15, 1887 in childbirth.

Infant Wyness: the son who survived the childbirth that took his mother's life lasted 6 seeks and was laid to rest next to his mother (July 28, 1887)

Infant son Mott: died in 1888

P.O. "Bunch" McCrary: killed while roping a yearling and the horse fell on him (1890).

James Bailey: Freighter. Was hauling grain from Amarillo and got his wagon stuck in quicksand. He suffered exposure trying to get the wagon out, and later died of pneumonia. (1893)

James Bell: last burial (1902). Mr. Bell was found dead with his bridal in his hands in one of the ranch corrals.

Earliest Burial: 06/15/1887

Latest Burial: 01/01/1902
