The following obituary for Joseph Cohen is from the Florida Times-Union website:

"COHEN Joseph Cohen, 102, devoted and beloved father, grandfather, great-grand- father, and friend, died on Monday, November 5, 2007, exactly one month short of his 103rd birthday. Mr. Cohen, a retired merchant, was born in Baranovitch, Poland, now part of Russia. He came to this country in 1911 at the age of seven, first settling in Savannah, Georgia, and later moving to Jacksonville as a young man after graduating from high school in Savannah. He was the eldest of four children born to the late Rose and Rev. Louis H. Cohen. Mr. Cohen was the proprietor of Family Shoe Store on Bay Street for many years, in addition to actively maintaining a career in the insurance business. He was also the long-time Treasurer of the Progressive Credit Union, which his father had been instrumental in founding, and held that office until the credit union was dissolved in recent years. His lifelong passion was his cherished family, and he leaves a legacy of love and devotion to those who were blessed to have known him. He possessed a dedicated and incredible faith in his Jewish religion throughout his long life, and his presence will be deeply missed and remembered with much affection by his loving family and friends. Mr. Cohen was married to Mamie Senter Cohen, who predeceased him, and to Mary Sinreich Cohen, who also preceded him in death. Surviving are his daughter, Anne Presser, Jacksonville; son, Israel Cohen (Yvette), Tel Aviv, Israel; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Cohen Rolnick, Jacksonville. He was predeceased by another son, Stanley Cohen, son-in-law, Edwin Presser, and a grandson, Lance Cohen. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Marilyn Presser, Atlanta; Stephen Presser (Diane), New York City; Dr. Jeffrey Presser (Debra), Jupiter, Florida; Brian Cohen, Jacksonville; Miriam Cohen, Jacksonville; and Erez and Libby Cohen, Tel Aviv. Eight great-grandchildren also survive: Elizabeth, Michael, Noah, Jonah Mac, Lilah Juliet, Sarah, Laura, and Sam. Mr. Cohen was predeceased by his sisters, Florence Schreiber, Jacksonville, and Raye Cypen, Miami, and is survived by a brother, Samuel Cohen, Overland Park, Kansas, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, including Minnie Schreiber, Jacksonville, and Neil and Iris Presser, also of Jacksonville. The family would like to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to the staff of River Garden Home, where Mr. Cohen spent the sunset years of his life, for their loving care and compassionate support. Graveside services will be held at New Center Cemetery (Evergreen Cemetery, 43rd and Liberty Street) on Wednesday, November 7th, at 11:30 a.m., with Rabbi Jonathan Lubliner and Cantor Yitzhak Ben-Moshe officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be sent to River Garden Home, 11401 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257, or the Jacksonville Jewish Center, 11401 Crown Point Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32258. Arrangements are by Hardage- Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue."
