ABOUT THE STAINED GLASS WINDOW:

The colorful stained glass window is on the mausoleum's door behind the brass door grates. The glass appears to be a decorative shield surrounded by a laurel wreath.

ABOUT WILLIAM C. COOPER, JR.:

"One of 11 children of Alice Alponsus Dugger and William Clark Cooper, Sr (1841-1922). His siblings included: James Gilmore Cooper, Mary, Charles D. Cooper, Fenimore M. Cooper, Theresa Hollman Cooper, Oliver Dugger Cooper, T. Harrold Cooper, and Ralph Joseph Cooper.

In 1880, his parents and siblings lived on Adeline Avenue in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. The household included: William C. Cooper, age 39, born in Pennsylvania to Pennsylvania parents, captain of police; Alice, age 34, born in South Carolina to parents from Ireland; James, age 10, born in South Carolina; William, age 8, born in Florida; Marie, age 6, born in Florida; Charles D., age 4, born in Florida; and an infant son, born in Florida.

By 1900, his parents and siblings were living in a home they owned at 1236 Hubbard Street in Jacksonville. Their household included: William C. Cooper, born August 1841 in Pennsylvania, a gate man at the depot; Alice, born August 1848 in South Carolina, married 34 years, six living children of 11 born; F. M., born October 1880 in Florida, an electrician; Harold, born November 1886; and Ralph, born November 1889.

William had married Frances, a woman with a daughter from a previous marriage. In 1920, he owned a funeral home on Ashley Street in Jacksonville, one of the first in Jacksonville to do embalming. He and Frances lived at 112 Adams Street."
