This wooden, one-room school building was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Hughie Gardner, and was placed on a several-acre parcel on the east side of Angier, near city recreation facilities. The land was donated by Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Denning, Jr.

The building can be viewed from the outside at any time. There is no posted information concerning how to get access to the interior. However, I found some photos taken in 2001. (See secondary website link.)

At the site: In addition to the school building, there is a replica of a wooden water well, as well as a smoke house dating from 1900. Nearby is a one-acre lake and tennis courts. The old city cemetery is on the west side of the parcel.

Directions: From the center of Angier, at the intersection of Highways 55 and 210, proceed easterly on NC-210 (East Depot Street) about 0.5 mile to Willow Street. Turn left, then take the next right. The building will be in a field on your right. There is parking on the left, beside the lake.
