The sculpture is located inside a round fountain basin that is about 40 feet in diameter and 24 inches tall. The sculpture itself is about 18 feet tall. Unfortunately the fountain wasn't in operation when we were there in December 2013.

The following description of this piece is from the Smithsonian Art Inventory:

A fountain consisting of a two stainless steel crescents positioned at right angles to each other in the center of a circular pool. Water shoots out of both ends of one of the crescents and out of only one end of the other crescent. The water appears to visually complete the arcs of the crescent shapes. The crescent shapes have grooved sides and smooth inside/outside surfaces. The fountain pool is circular and is topped by tan ceramic tiles. Approximately 500 gallons of water flow through the sculpture each minute. The water flowing from the crescent forms retains its curved form and flat shape through a force called "laminer flow."
