The first thing you'll notice about the restaurant is the number of cars in the parking lot. This is always a good sign in a town with a number of eating establishments. About the same time, you'll also notice the green frogs on the sign and on the front, which tell you that this is definitely not a chain.
The second thing you'll notice is the friendly wait staff. They obviously know the locals, but also know no strangers.
And then you'll notice the food. There's lots of it, and although some of it might have started in a can, it's all got that home-cooked touch, like the onions & ham pieces in the green beans. This place serves basic comfort foods. It is probably best known for its lunch & dinner buffets although it does have a full menu. (Breakfast is served till mid-morning.) The buffet is large and is well stocked with all the menu favorites, including the chicken-fried steak.
Based on some of the online review sites, the Green Frog has been a JAcksboro fixture for some years.
