This arch and a small one are a short walk from the nearby National Forest Road 691 on the way to Jackson Cabin from Mule Shoe Ranch. High clearance can probably make it to this point, but 4x4 is recommend. This area is beautiful, remote and wild.
Photo of the Arch by itself?: yes

Type of Arch: Water Eroded

Type of Material:
The geologic formations near the Muleshoe Preserve are all part of the Galiuro Volcanics. The buff-colored rock along canyon is a series of ash-flow tuffs. The loosely consolidated chunks of ash-flow tuff are ground to sand-sized particles more easily than other rocks in the area, such as basalt.
