Fritz Pümpin (1901-1972) was a Swiss painter who is especially known for his impressionist landscape paintings. The Fritz Pümpin Foundation created a walk through his home town with twelve stations showing the differences between the time when they were created and today.
"Bärenrank" was painted in Winter 1960. the exact location is at the parking at the corner and the viewing direction is towards east.
This street corner was unofficially called after the restaurant "Bären". The two restaurants on the painting do not exist anymore but the buildings have not changed much. The old barn next to the restaurant at the right is now a shop and there were windows added to the west facade of the building next to it.
