Joseph Scott was an Irishman, born in Drumclamph, Ireland on September 12th, 1843 who passed away in Naples, Italy on March 24th, 1906. His wife Annette Bartlett Scott, also on the obelisk, was born on June 20th, 1863 and passed away December 15th, 1941.

Below their names is this inscription:
"In this world knowledge of thy truth and in the world to come life everlasting.
Amen"

The monolithic granite Joseph and Annette Scott Obelisk stands between 20 and 25 feet tall and, except for its ornate decoration, is very similar to others, probably of roughly the same vintage, in the cemetery. It is a large cemetery, begun in 1888. As of this date its 160 acres contains the graves of over 12,000 individuals.
