The Noel Fire Department has its own stub Facebook page. This station is close to the town of Lanagan, which no longer has its own fire department, but is taken care of by the Noel FD. Lanagan is a Irish name, which is not surprising considering that most of the Ozark plateau was settled by Scots and Irish.

For most of the year, the larger town of Noel pronounces its own name as Nole. But for a few weeks in December it changes its pronunciation to match what folks expect from the word Noel, for obvious reasons.
