St Luke's was built in 1861 from locally quarried Casuarina stone and originally had a shingle roof that is now covered with corrugated iron
Repairs were made in 1877, new shingles, stained glass replaced the curtained windows and the outside walls were plastered
The cemetery was used from approximately 1853 until 1904
