Long Description:
Hopefully one day, someone will come along and reopen Ballinger's downtown movie palace, the Texas Theater. The rest of Ballinger's quaint downtown seems to be doing well, so Blasterz hope it is only a matter of time before the Texas Theater finds its revitalization and reuse.

The building probably dates from around 1910. Web research shows that the theater was open in 1950. We were not able to find out when the theater opened for the first time -- could have been as early as the 1930s. The sign is clearly closer to 1950s vintage.

Some history of this former theater in its heyday can be found on the Cinema Treasures website here (visit link) and at the Texas Escapes site here: (visit link)
