Longtime Runnels County Clerk Loretta Michaelewicz died of cancer while still serving the citizens of Runnels county.
Her obituaries from the local newspapers emphasize her role in the Runnels county community and made it plain that her death was a great loss to the citizens:

For those close to her, Runnels County District Clerk Loretta K. Michalewicz was a consummate friend, family devotee and professional who expected that work done in her office be completed on time and correctly.
Michalewicz, 63, was elected clerk of the 119th District Court in 1982 and was never opposed again politically.She died of cancer Wednesday, still holding the clerk's position.The funeral Mass for Michalewicz will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena in southern Runnels County."
