The Bulls Head is one of the oldest pub names in the UK and as is usual this sign shows a picture of a bull's head.

Often pubs with this name have farming connections but not in this case.

A bull's head was the crest of the Massey family who were the Lords of Sale in the fourteenth century, and one used to be displayed on the pub's exterior. See the public houses section on this web page.

This pub was erected in 1879 and replaced an earlier one from 1830. It stands on the corner of Washway Road and School Road.

There is a similar sign on both roads, the co-ordinates are for the sign on Washway Road.
