The Sterling County courthouse was built in 1938 by the Federal Emergency Agency of Public Works in the Art Deco style.

Cool 1930s bas-relief panels decorate the outside, with celebrations of the livestock and sheep ranching, and spiny prickly pear cactus in bloom. Blasters loved these highly stylized animals and cactus.
