The 1938 Sterling County courthouse sits in the center of a large square in downtown Sterling City. The courthouse is set back far away from Fourth Street, but it is worth a closer look to enjoy the longhorn cattle and sheep bas-relief details over the windows, which are interspersed with bas-relief panels of prickly pear cactus in bloom.
This is the third courthouse for the county, and is still used today as the center of county business.
