This large sign, erected in 2012 in celebration of Arizona's 100 years of statehood, stands alongside Interstate Highway 15 at the top of the Virgin River Gorge just southwest of the Utah/Arizona border crossing.

Arizona is a Johnny-come-lately as far as statehood goes. It was the last state of the contiguous 48 states to be admitted to the union and it would be another 47 years before the 49th star (Alaska) would be added to our nation's flag.

But that didn't stop Arizonians in all parts of the state from throwing one big party that lasted from 2010 to 2012. There are many web sites that have links to many of the individual celebrations. The web site listed below is just one of those many pages with links.
