Rededicated July 29, 1980
In commemoration of his lifelong
leadership to the youth of Jacksonville
as a teacher, coach and friend.

James P. Small was a coach and teacher at Stanton High School in Jacksonville for 33 years, then at Raines High School, also in Jacksonville, for 1 year before retiring. He is said to have coached "some of greatest wins in high school football history. Some of his players played in the NFL, and the late great Bob Hayes played under him."
